It was on the 17th August 1958 that the Foundation Stone was laid for the building of a church on the Pear Tree Estate; there was a service to celebrate this conducted by The Lord Bishop of Auckland, New Zealand, who had been born in Rugeley in 1883. The building of the Church was completed 8 months later, and the new Church was dedicated by The Bishop of Lichfield on 1st May 1959.
To celebrate this Golden Anniversary there were a number of events, starting on the 1st May 2009 with a Dedication Praise Service with the Archdeacon of Lichfield, The Venerable Chris Liley, and concluding with a Celebration Eucharist on Sunday 10th May 2009 with The Right Reverend Jonathan Gledhill, The Bishop of Lichfield presiding.
The flower festival was one of the core events of the week, each arrangement or display was based on a verse from The 23rd Psalm, The Lord’s my Shepherd.
